Researchers | CEFIR brings together 30 young Russian economists, including the first Russians with PhDs from leading Western institutions.

Affiliations | 3 of CEFIR’s researchers are Research Affiliates with the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) in London, at which no other Russian organizations are represented.

Academic Degrees | CEFIR has 8 PhDs in Economics; 1 “Candidate” in Mathematics; 7 “Kandidat Nauk” in Economics; and 13 M.Sc.’s in Economics.

Research Areas and Projects | In less than 10 years of its existence CEFIR has accomplished more than 130 research projects in 10 main research areas including: Administrative Reform, Corporate Governance and Financial Markets, International Trade and Foreign Direct Investment, Natural Monopolies and Competition Policy, Labor Markets and Social Policy, Macroeconomic Policy, Political Economics and Federalism, Migration Policy, Regional Economics, Entrepreneurship.

Publications | CEFIR researchers have published: 243 Working Papers, 40 Analytical Papers on the implemented projects, 66 academic publications in the leading international economic referred journals, more than 2000 publications in mass media, newspapers, magazines, economic web forums.

"Beyond Transition" Newsletter | From 2004 to 2007 CEFIR was actively involved in the production of the “Beyond Transition” newsletter on reforming economies on the initiative of the World Bank. It was disseminated to its 15,000 subscribers around the world both electronically and in print. The newsletter was bilingual and was available in English and in Russian.

Conferences | CEFIR has organized or co-organized 12 conferences: 1 international conference “Challenges and Perspectives of Youth Financial Literacy: International and Russian Experience”, 5 international conferences “Russia - 2015”, 1 Russian-China conference, 4 other conferences.

Participation in electronic professional networks | CEFIR researchers actively participate in the Social Science Research Network (SSRN). CEFIR publishes its working papers at RePEc (Research Papers in Economics) which is a collaborative effort of hundreds of volunteers in 55 countries. CEFIR is ranked 42 among Top 25% Think Tanks in the world by RePEc* (as of November 2018). In January 2018 CEFIR was nominated in the category Best Independent Think Tanks among 145 other think tanks according to the annual 2017 The Global Go To Think Tank Index. CEFIR has been ranked 10-th among 100 Top Think Tanks in Central and Eastern Europe and the third among Russian think tanks in this particular field according to this index. CEFIR has been ranked 31 among 140 Top Domestic Economic Policy Think Tanks and the first among Russian think tanks in this particular field.

Partnership | CEFIR takes an active part in the Association of Russian Economic Think Tanks (ARETT) which includes 29 Russian independent centers for economic analysis and the Global Institute - a strategic alliance of 6 leading international research-based think tanks.
